Jousting has been the hobby of knights in the medieval times. It’s considered a sport of men; as much as it is a competitive activity, it can also be deadly. It is also a martial art on its own, vicious yet a good conditioning for the knight’s body.
Of course, one cannot afford to joust for real even by today’s standards. But you can still be a medieval knight and compete with other knights. You can do so with just your mobile device, and the exciting jousting game called Rival Knights.
Install the game on your Android and iOS device, and you’re good to go!
The game starts with a short tutorial by a friendly knight. You’ll learn that there are three elements to good offense in jousting: horse speed, power and accuracy. You must get your horse to accelerate to a favorable speed that will increase your momentum and have a winning impact against your opponent. You must also be accurate so you can point your javelin at the enemy’s weak spot.
To get a good acceleration, you must be able to time your horse’s starting gallop to coincide with “GO” in the countdown. This constitutes a perfect start, and you must be able to sustain that with good acceleration. Tap your screen just as the arrow in the acceleration gauge hits the three squares. Tapping the screen when the pointer is in front of the green box will give you a perfect acceleration.
Getting a perfect start and timing your acceleration right will get you faster to your opponent, giving him less time to hit you first with his javelin. When you’re close enough, a circle will appear over a spot in the enemy’s armor. This is its weak spot - when your javelin is pointing right at the spot, the circle will turn yellow and will decrease in size.
Once you get everything right, sit back and watch as your jousting javelin throws your enemy quite violently off his horse. Congratulations on your victory, and you can choose to move on to the next match or go back to the Home Screen.
There are training matches in between levels too, where you can train your skills further. This is handy especially when you’ve bought new equipment for your horse and yourself.
To upgrade your equipment, simply go to the Shop and either have the blacksmith upgrade your existing armor, or buy a new and more powerful one in exchange for in-game cash. The more powerful your armor is, the heavier it becomes for the horse, which will affect your acceleration.
In Rival Knights, your goal is to defeat all your enemies in leagues in order to earn in-game cash rewards. In the game’s storyline, this is to prevent Lord Cunnings from stealing land from your liege lord.
Rival Knights may be hefty in size for a mobile app at 235 MB, but the wait is well worth it when you start playing the game. Rival Knights Riassunto
