Tips to BLUPing Your Horse in Howrse
For those who are new to Howrse and aren’t yet familiar with what BLUP exactly is, it’s an abbreviation for Best Linear Unbiased Protection which, simply put, is the horse’s genetic index that determines what quality foals that particular horse will create. Breeding using a horse with a high BLUP value will significantly improve your chances of getting top tier foals and this is why getting properly BLUPing horses is something that’s truly essential to mastering this game.
A horse’s BLUP can be any value between -100 and 100 with 100 being the max possible value with the highest chance of producing high-end foals and, of course, - 100 being the lowest possible value with the least chance of producing high quality foals. Expert Howrse players always try to breed using horses with a maxed out BLUP value and, by the end of this article, you’ll know exactly what you need to in order to BLUP your horses to the absolute max.
The very first step you’ll need to take in order to BLUP your horses is figuring out their top three skills which you can do so by checking which skills have the highest GP value and, once you’ve learned what your horse’s top three skills are, you simply need to train them as much as possible. This is perhaps the most essential part of BLUPing because, when done right, it can lead to a huge increase in your horse’s BLUP value.
Once you’re done training, you’ll need to utilize all of those training sessions in competitions if you truly wish to max out your horse’s BLUP. By this point you’ll already be well aware of what competitions your horse will excel at and it simply becomes a matter of partaking in these events and then performing well in them. To get the maximum BLUP value for your horses, you’ll need to win at least 20 competitions which might take a while but will certainly be worthwhile in the end when you’re able to produce the best quality foals.
Finally, although this isn’t really a step for players to take, it’s still essential to keep in mind that your horse needs to be 10 years old at the very least to reach the maximum BLUP value which, of course, is 100. No matter how well you perform the other steps, there’s no way to get the max BLUP value unless your horse has surpassed the age of 10 and this is why you’ll need to ensure that you perform these steps on a horse that’s aged already.
Overall, the process of BLUPing isn’t a particularly complex one but it’s crucial and, while it may take a bit of effort, you’ll be able to pull it off as long as you have the aforementioned tips in mind.
